I have been looking at some of the companies recommended for a crate engine, and one of the companies stuck out a little. I don't know much about the older engines, so I was wanting to get your guys' educated opinions.

They have four different versions of the 351W.

The only thing I would change (which is from info I gathered on other posts so let me know if I need to make changes) are the cams to Comp Cams (268 or 274), and AFR 185cc heads. What do you guys think?

Thanks.

I have no experience with them, but the first thing to jump out at me was the option to add a March serpentine kit for only $950. That is only $600 more than you can buy the kit from Summit. Also, 405 horsepower seems a little tame for a well built 351, expecially for $5400. A crate GT40 5.0 from Ford is about $3500 with alum heads. Add a good manifold and carb and it will be good for 385 horsepower.

If they turn out to be a good company, and if I were buying, I'd step up to the 351 stroked to 396 or 408!

I'd build one not buy a crate motor. You never know how it's assembled...ask Kent - he has LOTS of experience. ::

if your going to go with a crate motor you may want to step up to forged pistons also.Hyperuetectic pistons are a cheap alternative and are no good for power adders.

I'd got with the 345 hp 302 from ford racing. a ford intake and shortie headers. Demon makes a carb that is all ready to go for this engine so its almost like computer guys would say "plug and play" with all the little things you need to do to get it working.

I emailed Jasper and they quoted me $3200 for a 365 HP 351W.
