Friend has an 80s Mustang which was a 4 banger to start with,droped a 302 with a 750 Holly and a 4speed xmsn in it, hooked to a 9" rear, now he can't keep a rearend under it. Bust 'em every time he gets down on it. Other than the body dosen't have the weigh what could be his problem?

What part of the rear end is breaking??

Is he using slicks on the car?

Are you sure it's a 9"....?

Take a look at this picture and tell me which gear carrier your friend has...pay close attention to the bottom housing bolt holes and their relationship to the casting

Pat, I'ld say the one on the left would be his. It is the sprider gear that keep breaking. He runs street tires, and when he gets down on it, the wheels spin,and the back of the car starts brouncing.

What kind of gear carrier is he using? Open, 2 pinion or 4 pinion?

Tell me a little about what he's done to the rear suspension and shock absorbers all the way around....

Wheel hop can cause a lot of problem, not just with the rear end...
