Canton Racing Oil Pan…

Is anyone else out there running a Canton Racing Oil Pan? What gasket did you go with? How long has it been in place and how has it been?

I really want to use one of the Felpro 1 piece rubber gaskets but the guy at canton says they won’t mesh up, not even the 351w version. So I “need” the 4 piece.

But I see people on using the Felpro 1 piece gasket on their 351’s with a Canton oil pan on YouTube.

Can anyone give me their personal experience?

I’ve had a Canton pan for many years. Get the gasket from Canton and it’ll be leak free.

So… the damn 4 piece. Ugh lol.
I’ve tried the one pc gaskets and they leaked. The 4 pc from Canton has not leaked yet.

Also, make sure the pan lips are perfectly flat.

I also tried a 1 pc and it leaked just like Canton said it would. I've never had an issue with the 4 pc so that is what I went back too.

DAMN IT ALL! Why can’t the east street work!?!? LOL

Oh yeah, I’ve got some reinforcement rails to add to her. 🇺🇸💪🏼
First of all, it's hilarious that CantMeasure would point at any other product and say "that will make it leak". They have leaking down to a science themselves. lol

I used the 1 piece gasket and mine is now leak free (I have the Canton Road Race pan). You need to use the gasket for the older cars (Fel-Pro OS 13260).

You have to be sure to silicone the hoops at both ends (despite the instructions saying not to) and the corners. But you have to do that with any gasket when the pans fit as badly as the Canton ones do. This is what Jim at Ford Strokers advised me to do.

You cant use rails on a Canton pan. Rails only work on flat pans. Canton uses dimpled pans.

Well… looks like I’m returning them then 😔 glad I brought it up. SUNNUVABITCH… cars and their infinite “rules / needs”lol.
Also, torque only to the low setting of the range for all fasteners.

Yeah, that’s what I was wondering. Cause I have been seeing a dozen or so legit mechanics on YT posing videos of using the one piece rubber gaskets with a little RTV in the corners. And I’m thinking… if all these guys are talking about how amazing these one piece gaskets are… why would everyone else be saying to only use 4 piece?!
If you want the best roadracing pan that will not let your engine down on oil get a Aviaid pan man. It will keep it all wet down there in the crank shaft area. Never any oil starvation on any corner no matter what.

I already ordered and have my new Canton 15-680 here and ready to be installed 😔 too many options and opinions out there to get all the stuff.

Whoops. Will have to keep that in mind if mine starts leaking.

Also FWIW while I wasn't seeing open-track speeds mine (canton raodrace pan) did fine last weekend at a track-cross. Always had good pressure even in the off-camber sweepers.

Canton 15-680 is a very good pan, I ran the 289/302 version, 15-630 for almost twenty years. I used a four piece cork & rubber gasket and never had any leaks. Like any core based custom pan, you need to make sure that the rails are flat, the end seals are centered on the seal area of the engine, and that you have the proper pickup to pan clearance. Dry fit the pan to the block without the rubber seals to ensure the gap is consistent all the way around the seals. I also prefer to glue the rubber end seals into the grooves with gasket shellac, and the cork sides to the block itself.
