First of all, it's hilarious that CantMeasure would point at any other product and say "that will make it leak". They have leaking down to a science themselves. lol

I used the 1 piece gasket and mine is now leak free (I have the Canton Road Race pan). You need to use the gasket for the older cars (Fel-Pro OS 13260).

You have to be sure to silicone the hoops at both ends (despite the instructions saying not to) and the corners. But you have to do that with any gasket when the pans fit as badly as the Canton ones do. This is what Jim at Ford Strokers advised me to do.

So I just looked up the FEL-PRO OS 13260 T Oil Pan Gasket to order and the guy there said that is only for the 289/302 engines, not the 351 😔

If you want the best roadracing pan that will not let your engine down on oil get a Aviaid pan man. It will keep it all wet down there in the crank shaft area. Never any oil starvation on any corner no matter what.

I’ve heard that for years. And while it may be that the Aviaid pans are good, I’ve never had an oil starvation in fast banked corners either. Me thinks there’s a lot more to it than just the pan

You cant use rails on a Canton pan. Rails only work on flat pans. Canton uses dimpled pans.
why cant you use the rails

I have a Canton 9 quart road race pan on my 393W. I have the one piece Felpro gasket. What I finally had to do to get it to quit leaking was to use silicon in the corners of the pan where it curved over the front and rear main bearing caps. I put silicon on both the engine side and pan side of the gasket.

I had a Canton pan on another build. The pan and supplied gasket did not leak, however there was another issue. Before installing a Canton pan, make sure the oil drain plug will thread in without much effort. In my case, Canton failed to chase the threads after welding and the threads in the nut welded to the pan distorted.

Is anyone else out there running a Canton Racing Oil Pan? What gasket did you go with? How long has it been in place and how has it been?

I really want to use one of the Felpro 1 piece rubber gaskets but the guy at canton says they won’t mesh up, not even the 351w version. So I “need” the 4 piece.

But I see people on using the Felpro 1 piece gasket on their 351’s with a Canton oil pan on YouTube.

Can anyone give me their personal experience?
I bought a 7 qt Canton pan from someone who 347 Crate engine built for a early Mustang going into a Volvo Wagon. I will second that comment on not using a 1 piece gasket. That is what I used and have a pretty good leak I believe at the rear cap. I’m probably going to pull the motor this winter to fix it

Whoops. Will have to keep that in mind if mine starts leaking.

Also FWIW while I wasn't seeing open-track speeds mine (canton raodrace pan) did fine last weekend at a track-cross. Always had good pressure even in the off-camber sweepers.
Me too. I am running a full rubber gasket with Canton pan and so far no leaks.

Wow, o didn’t realize Canton was the go-to. I recently picked up a Milodon and have no idea what gasket to use. Hmmmm
I tried EVERY one piece gasket on my ~7½ qt Milodon pan and they all leaked. Didn't think of, or know about doing the corners with rtv. Odd that I do the corners with other gaskets but didn't think about it with the one piece. I currently have only rtv as the gasket without leaks, and have done cork gaskets with the washers at the bolt holes without leaks. YMMV.

I forgot to mention, it didn't matter if I used a 1 piece gasket or the 4 piece gasket. My pan leaked regardless. Using the RTV at the bearing caps finally got it to stop leaking.

I've run the Miloson pan on a 351w for years using the cork 4 piece gasket and never had a leak. I was going to try it with rubber 1 piece, but don't have new motor sealed up yet, so I can't report on 1 piece gasket.

So if you compile what you have here:
  • 1 pc gaskets leak
  • 1 pc gaskets dont leak
  • 4 pc gaskets leak
  • 4 pc gaskets dont leak
  • Rails dont work on dimpled pans
  • Rails do work on dimpled pans

Glad we could clear this up for you.

lol😀
