As some of you may already know, I am expecting my 2 Borla ProXS mufflers to arrive today or tomorrow. I was talking to my friend and he said to put a coat of wax on them before installation. It seemed like a good idea until my dad just said that the wax might melt off because becuase the muffler is hot. Do mufflers get very hot? I know exhaust manifolds and headers do (my index finger found that out). Should I wax the mufflers?

Thanks,

Bird Man ::

Don't wax or paint your mufflers--they do get very hot and you'll have a mess. Even high temp clearcoat won't work. Been there, done that, spent a lot of time cleaning it off. ::

I have dynomax super turbos and flowmaster tailpipes......after driving it 20 minutes, the tailpipes are too hot to touch.

Flowmaster makes tailpipes? Wow.

Good choice on the Borlas! You'll love them, I promise. =)

Now I know who Mike sold them to!

Wow....yes...Don't bother waxing anything on the exhaust or anything near it....the pipes get nice and hot....if they are stainless just throw some mothers polish to keep them clean.(when they are cold)
