Yeah, it's the pressure...*G*

Try this....run the car, shut off, pop the carb top and measure down to the fuel level....then, lower the float a bit and repeat....does the new level end up lower?

How does the current level compare to the one recommended in the sevice manual or carb book..?

Is the gas leaking onto the outside of the carb or internally into the engine?..(I don't remember your original problem...)

Post some engine and carb details in your bio or sig line to refresh my OF memory..*G*

You can do that on certain carbs where you can remove the lid while the engine is running....I don't recommend it because of the chance of fuel getting somewhere it shouldn't...

For example, the 4100 Autolite on my D-coder can be used with the top off....I have set the float level by bending the float while the engine was running....usually once everything's right, there's no need to touch it again....and I haven't in the last 7 years...

Obviously, with an electric fuel pump like I have on the race car, float levels can be set with the engine off....reasonably safe IMO...

I made a couple of Lexan site plugs to use when adjusting the floats on the Holley on the race car....once I was satisfied everything was OK, I replaced the stock brass plugs...no need to take any chances with leakage...

The gasket on my 4100 is slightly wet most of the time...not drippy but just damp....the result of the fountain you talk about inside the carb....

Is it possible that the lid gasket on your carb isn't sealing all the way around?
