I know this must have been posted a million times but here it goes again. As you guys may know I just bought a versailles rear for my Fastback. My dad who lives about 250 miles away picked up the rear-end so I haven't seen it yet. I really would like to know what the rear ratio is, what do I tell him to do to check it? I've heard you rotate one of the axles 10 times and then note how many times the diff turns, is this correct? Also does rotating one axle and having the other rotate in the same direction indicate a Traction Lok differential? TIA.

Mark a spot on an axle and turn the yoke and count how many times the yoke turns to make a full turn on the Axle. In example if the yoke turns three times for every turn of the axle you have a 3.00:1

I wouldn't expect much for a ratio out of a Versailles, usually around 2.47 or 2.75, I would look more to find out if it were a posi or not.

Yeah, I'm expecting the worst: A 2.47 non posi. However there is the chance for a 3.00 with traction lok. If by some cosmicly small chance that is the case I'll leave it be since I'm planning on a 351 with a toploader and highway driving. If not I'll just buy some 3.25 gears and a locker. My curiosity is really all about wether or not I'll get to save some $$$!
