I already know the answer to this question, but I figured what the heck, maybe get a different perspective. I have a 1967 Mustang Convertible and I am working on refurbishing the sun visor bracket. It is very pitted as I used some 4 O steel wool to clean it up. The steel wool shined the piece up bu the bumpy pits still remain. Any ideas on how I can clean this up without getting it re-chromed? I figure I should just spend the $70 for a new reproduction piece. I have come to the realization there are about (100) $70 parts I will need to buy for this project. Anything I can eliminate is a bonus. Thanks for the help.

That's pretty common for old chromed potmetal and there's nothing you can do for it...at least I've never found a solution. Rechroming pot metal is difficult and not everybody does it. Your best bet is to buy a reproduction piece if it's a decent piece.
