I just got the new T5 tranny in and I’m moving on to hooking up the z-bar linkage. I have everything loosely in for measurements but I’m stuck with the lower rod that engages the clutch fork. How do I move the clutch fork back far enough to let me install the rod? It can’t be done with your bare hand, right? Is there a trick?

Just unhook the upper clutch rod from your clutch pedal and you will be able to push that back through the firewall, which rotates the rest of the assemblage forward and will allow you to put the lower clutch rod into the clutch fork.

Ah that makes perfect sense! It also opens up another can of worms... I‘m going to have to undo the drivers side header now. The lower part of the z bar interferes with the header. Thanks Kelly
