Subject: WATER OR COKE?

This is really an eye opener.... Water or Coke? We all know that water is important but I've never seen it written down like this before.

WATER

1. 75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.

2. In 37% of Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is often mistaken for hunger.

3. Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism as much as 3%.

4. One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pangs for almost 100% of the dieters studied in a University of Washington study.

5. Lack of water, the #1 trigger of daytime fatigue.

6. Preliminary research indicates that 8-10 glasses of water a day could significantly ease back and joint pain for up to 80% of sufferers.

7. A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.

8. Drinking 5 glasses of water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.

And now for the properties of COKE:

1. In many states (in the USA) the highway patrol carries two gallons of coke in the truck to remove blood from the highway after a car accident.

2. You can put a T-bone steak in a bowl of coke and it will be gone in two days.

3. To clean a toilet: Pour a can of Coca-Cola into the toilet bowl and let the "real thing" sit for one hour, then flush clean. The citric acid in Coke removes stains from vitreous China.

4. To remove rust spots from chrome car bumpers: Rub the bumper with a rumpled-up piece of Reynolds Wrap aluminum foil dipped in Coca-Cola.

5. To clean corrosion from car battery terminals: Pour a can of Coca-Cola over the terminals to bubble away the corrosion.

6. To loosen a rusted bolt: Applying a cloth soaked in Coca-Cola to the rusted bolt for several minutes.

7. To bake a moist ham: Empty a can of Coca-Cola into the baking pan, wrap the ham in aluminum foil, and bake. Thirty minutes before the ham is finished, remove the foil, allowing the drippings to mix with the Coke for a sumptuous brown gravy.

8. To remove grease from clothes: Empty a can of coke into a load of greasy clothes, add detergent, and run through a regular cycle. The Coca-Cola will help loosen grease stains.

9. It will also clean road haze from your windshield.

For Your Info:

1. The active ingredient in Coke is phosphoric acid. Its pH is 2.8. It will dissolve a nail in about 4 days. Phosphoric acid also leaches calcium from bones and is a major contributor to the rising increase in osteoporosis.

2. To carry Coca-Cola syrup (the concentrate) the commercial truck must use the Hazardous material place cards reserved for Highly corrosive materials.

3. The distributors of coke have been using it to clean the engines of their trucks for about 20 years!

Now the question is, would you like a coke or a glass of water?

Agreed – most of this stuff is completely made up and has absolutely no basis in fact whatsoever. And how is this post not off topic? :p

whatever the case is, i drink about 5 to 7 bottles of water a day... i didnt start doing this until a year or two ago, and i ALWAYS feel MUCH better and clear in the head from drinking so much water. i have more engery, i think quicker, and i just feel better in general. i also get sick far less than before... water is " the real thing "...its also kinda cool , when you take a leak and your pee is so clear, you dont even have to bother flushing or worrying about waking people up in the middle of the night.. this also carries over into the negative side of water drinking.. you pee like a never ending geiser

I drink plenty of water in hot weather because I work ouside a big part of the time and I sweat a lot. I probably suffer more from dehydration in winter, because I don't think about the need for water like I do in hot weather.

You forgot the most important Coke usage. If you clutch starts slipping, pour coke (no diet versions off course) on it and you can finish your trip.

Anyone want to hear where banana should stuffed?

Your stomach acid is hydrochloric acid. Soak a t-bone steak in your stomach and it will be dissolved in a few hours.

Now doesn't that make you think?

Everything in moderation. Lots of people can't seem to figure out why drinking tons of sugary colas, juice, etc can be bad for your teeth and health....Go figure.

Same for a double bacon cheeseburger....Eat two a day and then sue Mickey D's when you become obese with high blood pressure, cholesterol, diabetes, etc? Pu-lease !

Eat that cheeseburger, drink that coke....just do it once or twice a week. And between those guilty pleasures drink water, eat some oatmeal, and get some exercise....Why is this so hard for us lazy slobs to figure out and actually do ?

My granny used to say the acid in soft drinks would draw formaldehyde from the plastic bottles they were in and thus embalm your stomach. She also said walking barefoot would cause you to get heart worms (they'd enter through the pores in your feet), and honeysuckle was poisonous. Just looking out for her grandchildren!

But soft drinks really do work for cleaning your windshield when driving in the rain.

Probably off topic, but mostly true. I'm not sure about the highway patrol carrying it around, but..... Back in Reagan's administration, when the EPA came on the scene, they were going to make anything under pH 4 a hazardous substance, until someone pointed out that coke (and other soda pop) is right at pH 3. They lowered it to keep soft drinks from being a hazardous substance. The concentrate could well be below this threshold.

Here's something that you can do for $hits and grins. Most of us have some ball bearings around the garage from failed parts. Take the bearings and put them in some coke. I don't advise using a glass container, as it might break. The coke will crack the bearings, and in an almost explosive manner. Shouldn't take more than a few minutes. Never tried it with diet products, but sure works with the "original".

As far as dehydration, I believe everything listed under water. A couple of years ago, I had a kidney stone that had to be disentegrated with a couple of rounds of lithotripsy (sound waves) to remove. I did a lot of reading on water and dehydration, and everything listed sounds right. It's one of the best things you can do for your body. As far as beer goes, it actually dehydrates you due to the alcohol. That's probably how I got the kidney stone in the first place!
