Was wondering if I'd be able to compensate for 15 X 8 in wheels with 3.75 in backspacing on a 67 Coupe? What tires can I use / what problems can I expect?

Thanks in advance!

Have you checked Jay's tire/wheel chart to see what your car needs?

The wheel you are asking about is not right for your car. If it had too much backspacing you could use spacers (bad idea), but there is really not much you can do with too little backspacing, except cut down your axels (also a bad idea).

Narrow tires are your only choice. Maybe something like 195's would work. Lots of people run 3.75 inch backspacing because the TTD's are that size. You just can't put on a maximum width tire.

I've heard of people getting their axles and axle housings narrowed to do this.... My approach is to go with Vintage 45s from Vintage Wheel Works, which at 16 x 8 are perfect for my 69 and offer 4.5" b/s. This will allow me up to 255R5016 in back.
