Compressor doesn't run...

580 1
Hi,

I just installed a daily driver air conditioner system in my 65 coupe. When I turn the unit on, the fan blows, but the compressor doesn't run. Is this because the system hasn't been charged yet? I hope that is the cause.

Thanks for your time,
John Thomas

The system should have a low pressure switch. If there is no charge then the switch will not allow the compressor clutch to be energized. This is done to protect teh compressor, since running it without a charge would burn it up quickly. Charge it and then try it again.
