Man-O-Man, Your trying too hard! No really, I understand. With this attention to detail I'm sure your doing a beatuiful car. IMHO though- Nobody but you will ever know what you use there, if you use anything. The medium strenght Loc-tite is a redish color. I don't know if that's what you'd want to use on brake lines though.

I have seen both those colors also. Great idea with the paint & pipe sealer. Is it the liquid teflon (sp?)tape? I've also seen yellow inspection markings on the flare nut.

Look forward to the pictures.

The threads on the brake line compression nuts do NOT need to be sealed nor should they be sealed. Sealing them does nothing.

The brake lines are sealed where the compression nut and line flare meets against the corresponding fitting surface. If your brake line leaks, then it is the mating surfaces not the threads.

And to answer your question directly, nothing was applied to the threads at the factory!
