The alternator is almost completely detailed and I have a new cad fan for it. How was the alternator pully finished in 1966? It looks like it may have been semi gloss black.

The 65 pulley and fan were dipped in black. Gold for 66.

Pulleys typically were not dipped. It would cause too much paint build up in the belt area. I would agree that the fans were dipped though.

Also, a little known fact is that some late '65s had blue alternator fans and pulleys.

Page 214, AMK cataloge

"All 1965-66 fans and pulleys were painted semi-gloss black, the fan was dipped & the pulley was spray painted. For a period beginning sometime in early 67 thru 1969 the pulleys was plated zinc dichromate (gold color) instead of painted. By late 1970 again the pulley was painted. Most single pulleys were completely painted semi-flat black while double pulleys and some single pulleys were painted on the front side over the ZDC plating. 1967 and up fans are ZDC plated as the pulley."

My car is a 66, so I dipped the fan and sprayed the pulley.
