Ok got motor mounts on, engine and tranny bolted together (Thanks TFOBS!!) with the TC aligned nicely and engaged (I pray) but have a problem. With the crossmember (with slotted holes) in the position to put the holes forward towards the engine bay, and with the tranny mount (the one with the studs that is actually bolted to the tranny) turned so the bolts are as far back towards its tail, it is still 1/2 inch away from the tranny mount fitting into the crossmembers holes!!! HELP... the tranny tail is on a jackstand for the night, until I can figure out what mount is backwards!!! FYI 67 289, C4 both original and rebuilt...... New motor mounts, tranny mount, original frame half of the motor mounts, and original crossmember. Is something on backwards or what??? Anyone have a couple good pics of a 67 or 68 motor mount on the engine, or the crossmember???

Any ideas or help is appreciated...

I don't know if this pic will help but here it is. Not the easiest place to get a good pic of :). This might help the tranny mount should have a little bump on it right in the middle on the rubber part. This faces towards the front of the car. Sounds like you have the cross member in correctly. http://a2.cpimg.com/image/4C/5D/22064972-7247-02000180-.jpg

Darn, thats exactly how mine is, with the exception of the studs being in the crossmembers holes.... Thats leaves the motor mounts or the frame brackets. There are 3 or 4 holes on the shock towers where the frame brackets attach, wonder if maybe they are in the wrong holes, i put them in the ones I remembered them being in when I took them off, but maybe I remember incorrectly lol.. There is no difference between left to right on the motor mounts, so unless they can fit on the motor 2 different ways on the same side, then thats not it either. Hmmm. anyone have a pic of thier engine with the motor mounts on? 289 (67) since 67 has different mounts then the rest IIRC.

Thanks,
A.J.

I think it is nearly impossible to put them on anyway but right. I will try and get you pic, as best I can of the mounts if no one else comes up with one. While underneath the car I will see if I notice anything that could make a difference. I just so happen to have mine up on ramps right now so it will a little easier to look.

There is a difference on the mounts..One side is set back farther than the other.About 1/2 i to be exact and that will put the tranny mounts out by that much.
