Although I think the idea is great, I'd like to see the material specs...this member sees a fair amount of compression loading and aluminum (plate and tube/bar) varies greatly in its strength.

It looks as if they're using aluminum round bar for the struts....and it's necked down in the area of the rod ends and likely the rod ends are 3/8", as indicated by the pins being used. The plate looks to be possibly 3/16" or 1/4"....

I guess the maintenance on a 335 series in an early car contributed to the inception of this idea...I never had any problems maintaining the 289 in the race car when it had stock suspension and export brace....although I did have a lift-off hood...
