MCA rules state the radiator should be semi-gloss black. Make sure to use a water or lacquer based paint. Enamels and urethanes do not promote proper heat transfer.

Mark, your radiator shop may have just picked up the first paint bomb they could find. A lot of them use gloss black on the repaint. Semi gloss is correct and you can find the right paint at Eastwood. Their's is the proper paint for radiators allowing heat transfer and giving you the semi-gloss finish you need. I used it on my 70SCJ resto project and it turned out great.
