In that range would it not be better to just take a core to a machine shop who will custom build an engine rather than a ‘crate’ motor turned out at a high volume engine shop? I’m planning to do a 289 to 331 stroker custom build 😜 I don’t trust the crate engines plus my 289 is original (outside of my car running a 302 now) and has my VIN on it. Even here with sky high prices 5-7 should cover it. But like many items engines and the requisite heads and parts are in short supply.

I would venture a guess that the "Factory Video" was made to sell their product.... You know how juicy that Whopper looks in the commercial but how different it looks when you unwrap it?
FYI Whoppers are still delicious! I'm in my 40's and have to watch fat and cholesterol now....but if I'm ever moving a house or dropping a motor in a car and need to eat like a race horse I'm down at B.K. if there's not Five Guy's around :)

I saw a dyno video for one of the big engine houses...think it was "Blueprint" and the guy was saying how this is probably one of the last OE blocks they'll be using for a build as they are now moving into production for replacement block castings due to shortages. But that was before COVID and the parts + labor shortages. I'm pretty sure and now everyone is digging for the 5.0 roller gold in junkyards again. I miss the days of being a youngin' digging elbow deep in junkyards for engine parts, not because I wanted to but because i needed to stay on the road. NOT. Ok Maybe I only miss the being young part 😊
