I was underneath my 66 coupe this weekend and noticed that the spring shackle on my passenger side has an 's' shape to it, which offsets the spring inward. However my drivers side shackle is straight. Is this correct? I can tell my car was hit on the passengers side at one time in its life, but it seems weird that only one shackle would bend if that was the case. Also it seems that the bends are fairly parallel and not sharp as I would expect them to be from an impact. Do body/frame shops bend shackles in order to get the car tracking straight again? Any help would be appreciated.
