I have a 66 v8 coupe I'm replacing the alternator on. When I took the original alt. off a small 1/16" split washer fell out, that was between the spacer and the alternator housing. It was tight getting the alt. off and still tight fitting the new one on - so tight I'm not sure how i slip that washer in there. There doesn't appear to be anything to lever against. Can I skip the washer altogether or is there a trick for getting it in there.
