The battery I just bought the other day is already dead, and I was wondering exactly what casues this. Is it my alternator, my voltage regulator, or my coil? Or is it a combination of the 3? I wouldn't mind having to buy all three to replace the old parts, but I would like to get the problem part first so I can get my 67 back on the road.

get the alternator and voltage regulator tested to find out which is the culprit, or both. Any parts store should be able to test them both for free, that is unless they do not want your business.

Check amp draw at battery negative terminal (remove cable and test across) with car shut down and all accy's off....if zero, test charging voltage (should be 13-14VDC)...if not, test/replace regulator and alternator/generator...

If amperage isn't zero with the car off, then you've found your problem....pulling fuses and re-testing will isolate the system with the leak...

Post if you have more questions....oh, yeah, you'll need a VOM with amp capability..*G*
