I got Trouble out into the driveway today for a photo shoot and to really get a good look at the car. After looking it over from all the angles, it's obvious that putting any more stripes on the car would be a distraction. Both Chuck and I feel that it's best to let the paint speak for itself. The car does need a little decoration on the side, so I'm going to get an airbrush artist to put "Trouble" in gold script on the front fenders where the emblems normally go and in a smaller size on the rear of the decklid's right corner.

Trouble also got wired today for all the lights, and a chrome waterneck was installed, along with the thermostat. It's looking better and better each day. Oh, and Murphy only needs to be waxed and he's ready for the Grand National. Long day today, but we got a lot accomplished.

I don't know Laurie Dodgestang makes nice case for stripes IMHO but as always your car your decison.

IMO, your car really needs some sort of stripe on the side. it looks like it is not finished now... the stripe really sets off the car. just my oppinion though. very nice car!

What about a thin pinstripe from the front fender to just behind the door, following the body line then flowing into the "Trouble" script font above the side scoop?

I like the version Dodge presents. It looks sharp and is not a distraction to me, well excepts the WOW factor!

BTW Laurie what suspension are you running front and back that is the rake I want but can't seam to obtain.

It does look good. I might consider a pinstripe, but not a big stripe. I think I'll see what the airbrush guy thinks, because it definitely won't be a decal. The hard part is the Hertz Gold is so unique in how it looks on the car--slightly mottled or marbelized--that it would be hard to match and I don't want two different types of gold colors.

The front suspension is standard control arms with Eibach progressive coil springs, and the rear is Canadian Mustang's mideye five-leaf springs. The car isn't dropped or otherwise changed in the suspension, just its natural stance with those springs.

wow, I am running 620 1" lowers with 1/3 of the coil cut in the front. Standard eye 4.5 standard leafs in the rear and it is just about level. I am going to take it back to the vendor and have him get the high lifts on it or something. That or put the 1" shelby/type shackles on it

You do know that there's 2 types of chrome thermostat housings, right? There's the kind that leak and the kind that WILL leak I have one on my car, too, but usually toss them about every other year to keep the leaks at bay.

Personally, I think a '65/'66 GT style side stripe would look awesome on Trouble, but that's just me.

Hey John, was any of those a Motorcraft? I have an brand new motorcraft housing that looks really nice when compared to some of the other stuff i've seen on the market, much heavier than the other ones as well. Came in an old motorcraft box, so I'm not certain if it's still being produced or not?

No, I'll be honest, in that none of the ones I've tried where Motorcraft ones, but I've tried a couple other different brands. All the ones I've tried start wearing away on the inside and after about 2 years don't seal worth beans.

Nick kinda "nailed" it. while Trouble is "ultra-bitchin" just sitting there, the GT style stripe with "TROUBLE" emblazoned at the bottom really makes the car "complete". Hell, these cars are obnoxiously gaudy anyway what with all the stripes, scoops, spoilers, etc - whats a little more "clutter". Do the "Nick thing".....

I like rocher panel stripes. So I am partial. As for a PERFECT paint match....A good airbrush artist will be able to match your stripes pretty darn good....and even it s/he ends up a tiny shade off.....because of the amount of real estate between the shelby stripes and the rocker stripes 99.5% of people would never notice the variant IMO
