I have both a 65 and 67 chunks that are cleaned up and have been painted red oxide. At swap meets I've seen others with the gear ratio painted on them. Was this originally done at the factory? If so, in what color paint? TIA - Dickson

The rear end did have the ratio marked on the housing in grease pencil. There would also be other markings and daubs denoting that the unit was filled with lube, inspector marks, etc. Jeff Speegle would be your best resource for the specifics on your particular model. Also, Mustang Monthly did a good article on rear end detailing a few months back.
