All fastbacks have tinted backglass. The other glass could be tinted or clear.

Also what about the 4 inch sunvisor tint band at the top of the windshield. Did any of them have that from the factory?
My 67 has green tinted glass all round and a top-tint front screen, as below:

IIRC, the front windshield top 4" tint was a stand alone option, or full tint. I don't think tint was required with a/c, but I could be wrong.

Just to make it "clear" (pun intended), based on the 1965,66, 67 and 68 Ford Car Facts Books, ad the Salesman's List Pice Books for each year, the tinted back glass was Standard for all four years. In addition, for 1965 and 1966, the tinted (banded) Windshield was a stand alone Factory Option, and another Factory Option was with all glass tinted. For 1967 and 1968, the "Winshield Only" Option was not available ; it was either all glass tinted or none.

Also, for 1967 and 1968, under the "Air Conditioning" Option, there is a note saying "Tinted Glass Recommended".

Hope this helps.

Somewhat inferred in post #5 is that if you get the Marti report, it will tell you. No need to make a decision based on memory, observation of "most" cars, etc.

Problem is that the Marti report does not list the standard items (except driveline, brakes). So if the standard FB rear window is tinted there won't be any reference to it.

News: if you wish to order the correctly marked/dated glass, you will likely have to wait 10 weeks for it to arrive after you order and pay for it. This is the new "way it is". Why spend money of glass that isn't correctly dated and correctly marked "Carlite". You will wish you did.

Interesting. I was told all 67/68 cars with A/C came with tinted glass. Anyone have a copy of Marti by the numbers book?

Oddly, it's one of the options he doesn't list out.

It was not a mandatory option or part of the AC option. This was consistent throughout the rest of the Ford lines as well, even up into the high end Lincolns. Options = profit

I am not enough of a Mustang expert to know if this is correct for them, but for Cougars, in '67, the tinted glass was greenish. In '68, they went to more of a smoky color. My '67 Cougar XR7 had green glass.

That can certainly be a challenge, which can be exacerbated with assembly plant variations, vendor variations, running changes, and the like. In this case, that problem was remedied in post #2 with an accurate statement. The trouble is weeding out the false information based on speculation, conjecture, and so forth because some times those methods end up with accurate results. I prefer to use Ford references whenever possible, such as the one pictured below. Note the lack of a fastback clear glass part number. Keep in mind that in some cases, a factory provided part was not made available for service, and a different variation would have been provided. An example of this is a radiator for a manual transmission equipped car - in order to reduce variation (my assumption), Ford serviced all radiators with the automatic transmission fluid cooler. I don't think that is the case here because of the hundred+ 67-68 fastbacks that I've worked on, judged, owned, etc. over the years, 100% of them have had the SUN-X identifier. My conclusion based on the Ford document shown plus over one hundred samples is that all fastbacks received tinted (SUN-X) glass. Note that the same is true for the Fairlane/Torino fastback B(63).

I always attributed green glass to “factory” A/C cars. But many A/C cars were dealer add one, so a lot of cars with clear glass and A/C were around, but that is a guess.

My 68 convertible (I know you are talking FB here) but with my Marti Report he gave me an invoice, which listed tinted glass.

Factory AC convertibles did not have tinted glass standard. I’ve owned my 67 since the 80s and it’s got clear glass. I don’t remember if the original windshield had a tint strip.
