For a 70 9" diff what are the colors for the following:
Drum Brake backing plates
Steel Housing and axle tubes
Cast Iron Pig

Good question. I'm seeking the same info for a '68 coupe with an 8" rearend.

'68 Coupe, 289, C4, 3.40 gears, GT-40P heads, TCI Streetfighter stall convertor.

The correct color is semi gloss black for all pieces except for drum brakes is cast iron. if your Mach1 is equipped of styled steel wheel the front of drum is black out!

Hosuing is sprayed semi-gloss black with the axle hosuing ends bare metal on the flange face and inside. Where the 3rd member /pumkin attaches it is bare metal also to allow a better seal for the gasket.

The 3rd member/pumkin is a primer sealer (DO NOT use a primer) and bare metal where the machine areas are You'll find these on the tainer face and two other loactions on the exterior

The backing plates a a little shinner since they were originally dipped and not sprayed.

The bare lines were thought to be tin dipped to reduce rusting
