My dashpad on my 66 coupe is in need of replacement, and I would like to replace it with a 65 dashpad, so that I may use the 65 shelby gauge pod... Is there any reason that I can't make this change, or is the 66 metal dash(under the pad) somehow different?? thanks in advance for your help.

the 66 metal dash has holes drilled further down than the 65 dash. You'd have to fill the holes, or else you'd have big holes in your dash.

The only difference, is the "ears" that hang down on the '66 pad and the chrome trim strips on the '65 pad. You'll have to drill the holes for the chrome strips and of course locate some of the strips. They are what helps hold the dash in place, since the '65 pads don't have the 2 large bolts on the ends.

To my knowledge the strips aren't being reproduced, but I have a pretty decent set if you're interested ... just send me a PM.
