I've owned a digital camera since back in the days when they were outrageously expensive....
Here's an example auction of the one I've used for over 3 years now...
It may not compare to the megapixel cameras of today but look at this picture and tell me it doesn't do everything one might want for a camera for the web...
I also have a matching dye-sublimation printer so I can print realistic photos either from the computer or right from the camera....
Not to mention that the SLR design allows me to add filters and a wide angle or telephoto lens....see this pic for an example of a wide shot of my race car...
All around excellent camera...
Only downside is it is a voracious battery user...I have 2 sets of NIMH batteries and carry them at all times...usually, I get 30 or so shots with flash on a set of batts...
