Well, I picked up my tranny tonight. The welder found another crack that I had missed and took care of that as well. He did a fine job. Total cost: $87.50.
I bolted it up without the Torque converter first to make sure everything was ok, then I removed it all and slid the TQ converter in and bolted it up and torqued to specs. WOOHOO!!!!!!!!!
I took a couple of pics, HERE and HERE.

I am a happy man. He used a grinder to make a "V" on the inside along the break and then welded that up. He then went to the outside and grinded a "v" down to the weld on the inside and welded that up.
I dropped it off at 8PM last night and he called me at 9:30 AM to tell me it was finished. Now that's service :)

Now I just have to install it all.

AHHHHHHHHH. tranny finished. heh

That looks like a good repair at a very reasonable price. Outstanding!

Now that should relieve your former depression! Looks like an outstanding repair. I had emailed the pic of that crack to my buddy in Calif who has built an all steel 34 Ford coupe from the ground up and even he got depressed at how bad the tranny looked. Great price too!

If you really thought the guy went beyond normal customer service. Tell him!! If it was an employee. Tell the owner. Too many times all I hear are the problems that our company has. It's nice to relish in sucesses.
