I bought my 68' about 2 months ago and I noticed that the distributor vacuum advance is not connected to the carburetor (Holley). Is it necessary for it to be connected? Please help. Thanks.

Not necessary, but you'll get better fuel economy when cruising at a steady rpm if you hook it up.

Thank you. i guess I don't have to connect the vacuum advance since I only use the car on occasion.

Try connecting it and see if you like the way the car runs. Vacuum advance does a lot more than just improve gas mileage for a stock or mild build engine.

BTW, you will want to connect it to the vacuum tube on the passenger side of the front metering block.

It may be disconnected for a reason. See if the distributor diaphragm will hod a vacuum.
