Cool! I found out the 69 Mach 1 I bought has a tach console ... nice :) ... never thought to ask that one and its in perfect shape too!

I was wondering what you guys thought about dividing up the VMF into more categories ... I think its becomming essential, as I used to look through everything but it is unmanegable now. I think there should be a "General", "Help", "Part Identification", etc... division of discussion groups instead of lumping everything into one group!

Chris

I like the forum the way it is. Often I find myself learning something that I would not normally have seen if I'd had to go searching for it under specific categories.
It's not a bad idea, though. I say don't trifle with perfection (shameless flattery towards the webmaster here - looking to get my own custom moniker hehehe) Dickson

We could go back to the old, boring forum. That would weed out a lot of people.

I also disagree, I find it more difficult and more educational than flipping between forums seperated by subject. It can be a bit to manage, but I only read about 80% of the posts now, skipping stuff that doesn't apply or doesn't interest me. Since I found this forum last year, I quite visiting others.

I enjoy going through all the posts, and to separate it into categories would take more time to go through. It would also couse less responces to some threads for that reason.

Old, boring forum?
I always thought it was the greatest thing on the internet. Better than free porn!

I also enjoy the way it is. I learn things that I otherwise would have had to look for. Plus where would we put all the humor??

We don't like changes, do we. First I objected the idea of new forum, but now I have to admit, this is better. I have even started to like photos in the posts. Of course, when you have a intense discussion seeing same photos over and over again, hmm. One can sort posts, so it would help if people would start subject line with good key word like engine or tranny or whatever instead of Help or I have problem with ...

To me, there are two primary functions of the VMF.

The first function is to ask and answer questions. If I have a specific question, the search option is a lot more efficient than browsing. For that, we don't need multiple categories. I believe most of us are generalists who are interested in Mustang restoration and not just a singular area of interest.

The second function is education and "lessons learned". I can browse and find those threads that are topics I am currently or will in the future be facing. If it looks useful, I "bookmark" it and then change the title of the bookmark to a descriptive category that is then put into a folder with other such threads. If we were to have multiple VMF categories, then that method of education would be more restricted.

When I go into a library or bookstore, I enjoy looking around to see what catches my interest and answers my needs.

PS.. You are right there is sure a lot of material here. I guess thats why I am up so late. ;-) Would rather have it this way though then the other way around.
