Hi,

I am wondering whether these parts need frequent lubrication, I have just rebuild my hinges and I had to play with the small turnbuckle on my 67 Mustang Ringbrother hood hinge, but I just realized that these parts are dry do you think these parts need a little bit lubrication ? if so what type can you please help me on this subject.

Thanks yes that was my concern, a normal grease could collect all the dirt, so thanks for the recomandation.
I use engine oil but I like to keep a very clean latch with a regular wipe down.
Seems to me my copy of the original Ford maintenance manual mentioned lubing the hood latch assembly. I'd have to find it and check though. In any case I had to lube mine on my '67 as I couldn't even work it until I did. After restoring it I had to lube it again for decent functionality. I think I went old school with lithium spray grease.

I think I'd keep it simple and go with @GypsyR

I have used plain old WD-40 on the hinge points for the latch mechanism. Worked very well.
