Looks like I found traces of a white stripe on the drive shaft.

This is a March '66 NJ V8 coupe. Does this compare to anything you may have found on your '66?

Duh... :eek:

C4 Auto

There may even be another stripe towards to the tranny, it doesnt realy show up well in the pic.

I've got pictures sent to be identified as a Feb-Mar 65 Dearborn V8 auto driveline with only a single white stripe. Nice clean original driveline/picture

Early drivelines weem to be in allot of different combinations (lots of changes) This makes this all difficult at this point.

With the information I have now...

So should I put the white stripe back on, or would it be better to have none?

You found one on your driveline and we have at least one other, from the same time period and application.

I would suggest returning the white stripe but leaving it at that.
