I have a 68 C8ZF-A distributor, its for a J-code with manual transmission. The vacuum advance is a dual unit, A12, and needs detailed.

I have seen pictures of show cars that have the entire unit natural metal, and some that have the clamp band around it some kind of gold color. Anybody know which is correct?

Also any tips on detailing. mine was blasted by a previous owner, so its now rust-free but is bare metal...I don't know if it should be natural, a silver cad finish, maybe zinc dicrhomate on the band, etc, or how to have it plated if that's what it needs.
Thanks

Mine has what appears to be a natural finish (no chrome or gold-plated material).
