I'm ordering some parts for swmbos 72 vert and seeing different part #'s depending on whether the car was built before or after a certain date. Unfortunately the door tag is not available.

Is it possible to decode the build date from the vin #?

No you can't get the date from the vin#
If it is the original motor you could get a cast date off the heads under the valve cover. or maybe off the intake. I'm not sude on the intake. That will get you close to a build date. hopefully not right on the line of the cut off.

Sacbill has a production guide he may be able to tell you when it was built
