This has come up many, many times. I always advise hooking it up to where Ford always hooked theirs. The "S" terminal on the back of the alternator. Other folks may prefer something different but I think it's tough to beat the simplicity of just one wire connection the way the factory did it. I have personally used and am using Ford, Holley, and Edelbrock carbs all with their chokes hooked up this way and all work just fine.
