I just got the A/C system charged and went to try an operate. Once I turn the A/C on it kicks out the fuse. I am not good with electrical issues and am looking for some sound advice on how to run this down. Thanks.
How many times has it blown the fuse? If it's just the 1 fuse that was in there for who knows how long, it could just have been a bad fuse. Try putting a new fuse in, if it blows that 1 then there is a short in the wires that will need to be tracked down. That can often be found with just a visual inspection. Start under the hood at the compressor (easiest place to locate the wires for that system) and start following the wires to see if anything looks out of the ordinary.
Disconnect the wiring to the A/C compressor and retry with new fuse .
If it blows , you can do the same with the a/c unit fan , etc. till you find the section making the fuse blow .
Once you get in the area , you'll have to figure out what is wired wrong or what is shorted .
If you have a good digital volt ohm meter , you can bypass alot of blown fuses looking for the source .
