I purchased a 65 a code mustang and an extra motor came with it.I was told it was the original how can i tell? I
have the numbers off of the block they read c4oe-6015c and
it has flat top pistons.Any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks mark
sound like an a code to me, my engine is out of a 65 a code and it had flat top pistons with no valve reliefs. and the c4 in the part number indicates the block was made in 1964
Adjacent to the casting number is a build date code. The engine build date should precede the vehicle production by no more than approx 6 weeks (IIRC, correct me if I'm wrong). I may also be wrong, but I would think a 5-bolt bell would be either a C or D code engine and that the A-code would be a 6-bolt bell?
Are you saying that it is not the original engine/block??
(How do I post a pic? )
