Do I necessarily need to remove my export brace to get my engine out? If so, I am not sure how to go about it... how to undo the shock and such.. will I need any special tools?
Ive pulled them with export brace left intact, depends on motor size and what is left on motor. To remove export brace, take off the 3 nuts in top of shock towers, and 4 bolts that attach to the firewall....thats it. Good luck.
It will make it easier and no you won't need any special tools. It is pretty straight forward just take all the bolts loose and lift it out. The shocks will just stick up through the holes.
I've never removed it when pulling an engine. I removed carb, alt, ps, fan, headers and radiator before doing it though. Left the tranny attached, but that's not necessary if you don't want it pulled.
will i also need to remove the 2 bolts holding the top part of the shock that sticks through? It seems like I will need to unattach them to let the brace slide up.
