I just had a new engine (351M) dropped in my 73 vert and was wondering about what type of exhaust I should put on. My mechanic has Flowmaster 40s real cheap - but I'm leaning towards glasspacks. Do I go dual? single? Packs? What do ya'all have on yours and how do you like the sound? I have flowmaster 50s on my F150 and it's nice, but too quiet for the 73.

Thanks,
Jenn

For any type of performance application, you will want a dual exhaust system with a crossover (X-pipe or H-pipe). 2.25" would suffice, 2.5" ID tubing would be best. Mandrel tubing bends (smooth bends that do not reduce tube diameter) are best but are the most costly. Mufflers are a matter of opinion. Many love Flowmasters, Dynomax has a strong following. You can go here to hear a few clips...

Check out the Hooker Aerochamber mufflers. I just put some on my '69 (351C-4V) and they sound really good. Supposedly they outflow just about everything. Also did 2.5" pipes w/H-pipe at the same time.
