Can anyone tell me what a "safe" clearance should be between the exhaust headers and the inner shock tower?
I put on new headers for my 5.0 transplant and I am a bit close. Less than one inch on either side. Is that safe? Any suggestions? THanks.

I'm running about a 1/4 inch on the driver side with Hedman's. I feel lucky to have that much. No problems. I've seen some with only 1/8.

You dont have any problems with the engine torqueing over and hitting the inner shock tower? Thats my biggest concern. I also worry about the heat that is coming off the exhaust peeling the paint off the same area.
Thanks for your responce.

No problems at all. The headers are ceramic coated, but even before, I never a paint problem.

I've only got about 1/4" between the header tube and the passenger shock tower (Tri-Y). No problem

3"? thats a bit close. I have a bit more than that even with the deep pan I am using. ;)
I have less than 1/2 " clearance on both sides. From what you guys have said, that sounds like it should be OK. Thanks!
