My 69 mach 1 R-code has a binding noise from rear end while turning at slow speeds. The car was in storage for about 8 yeard until I got it out this spring. It has and did have oil in it, but it is binding rather noticiably. Thanks

I put in my console (66 no a/c) and there is about a 3/4 inch gap between the shifter and shifter console plate (pic attached). I searched the forum and this same thing was a discussion about 10 yrs ago. The one option then was removing pad around console area. Any other ideas?
