I recently scored a set of hinges with the torsion rod and got it installed today. I drew a crude picture of it, the one I have has that red piece/bottome stop and the original didn't. That red piece of metal is preventing my trunk lid from closing all the way. Is this a 66 hinge? I spent alot time tweaking this and adjusting that to get the lid where it closes ok. Then after I installed the torsion rod I discoverd this problem. Nuts. I could tilt the hinge base down and that would probably do it and try re-aligning everything again. Any suggestions before I pursade that bottom stop out of the way? TIA.

The arm looking piece connects to torsion rod, I left the part of the hinge that connects to the trunk lid out.

OK. Here's the picture that clearly shows the hinge area and the stop, which is part of the actual hinge plate and not the movable bar. I had to grind the top of the stop off to allow the trunklid to close down. The oval indicates where I had to grind.

What I've been able to discern is that the placement of the bolts for attaching the hinge itself can cause interference that you're describing. Try angling the stop downwards by forcing the forward-most portion of the hinge upwards.

Your hinge is very different than mine. That answers one question mine definately isn't a 66 set. Do you know if ford made slight changes to these during the model year run or if the different plants just used slightly different parts? It's also possible that a PO ground the piece I'm refering to off my original the same as I'm about to.

Thanks again for taking the time to get those shots Randy I owe you one.
