I am working on an under-dash AC unit for a 1964 mustang.

1. Do you suppose I can figure out ware to drill the hole without pulling up the carpet?

2. Do you think there is a dimple for the drain hose location on a 1964 mustang?

Pretty sure there is no dimple on pre-66. The hose guard and moulded drain hose pretty much dictated where the hose had to go. The 66 had no guard, so a dimple was mandatory.

Seems like the 1" hole should be drilled directly under the ac unit drain nipple. I don't have the hose cover, and I am not sure when or if i will be getting the cover. I definitely don't want to drill in the wrong spot. is there any factory guidance or a specific way to determine where to drill the hole?
