Somewhere there's a photo of my first '66 coupe. I bought it out of a junkyard where they had sprayed "junk" on the driver's fender to designate that it was to be crushed. I took it home, installed a 302 and a C4, a couple of buckets, bled the brakes and drove the thing. It was part primer part flat black part cream colored with GT wheels on the front and Magnums on the rear. Under "junk," I sprayed "100%"!!

Blasphemy, I know!! I wish I knew back then that I was actually a Ford guy!!!
1989, Senior in high school, me on the right, 70 Nova with a 307. Friend on the left with 67 Chevelle 327.

But it was my first car. Sorry to pollute the thread with a bowtie...
(Thankfully the station wagon behind us was NOT ours)

I’m noticing a trend here: many of us with old film cameras were totally incapable of getting a whole car in frame. LOL
And pre-digital age, I have ONE photo I can find of my car. For my Mustang restoration, I have 9,953 pics so far, and I still need full interior and paint. Back in 89, the computer I took to college had dual 5-1/4 floppy drives. My Dad had a Mac with a 40 MB hard drive.

How did we survive?

A Cougar's close to having a Mustang for your first car, right?

My first new car was a 1978 Mercury Cougar with the Midnight Blue/Chamois option. It looked similar to your car with the Chamois vinyl top but it also had a vinyl pad on the vertical part of the trunk lid and Chamois colored wheels. Here's a photo of one I found on the internet. It was a real pimp ride! 1978 Cougar MB.jpg

First photo is my first car, circa 1981, a red M-code 1969 Mach 1 with white interior. I disassembled it into a million pieces when I was 14, and never finished the restoration (sold the project to a friend in 1985, and ironically I store it for the same friend today, now fully-restored). Second photo is the same car, today..

Second car, the blue 1969 GT350, circa September 1983, I was 16.. I sold it (for a decent profit) in 1985, but it's stayed in the central-FL area. I also still have my dad's 1979 T/A S/E 400 4-speed that's in the picture. The 3rd photo is that car today.

4th photo is my mom's GT500KR back in 1977 (it was her "first Mustang), and the 5th/final photo is that car today.

Holy cow! I never thought I'd see another one of those in this thread. Nice touch with the vinyl trunk and the matching rims. I wasn't cool enough to have that option.

Looks like I get to be the first MOPAR poster.

1970 Plymouth Fury Gran Coupe' like the one pictured. Mom and dad bought it brand new. Around '77 dad blew the 383 and it sat for a year. We bought a used engine, swapped it out and it became my first car at the age of 16 - 1979. The thing was a tank and had no low end but once it got to 80+ it floated. I still think that paisley vinyl top with matching interior is cool.

I started with trucks. This is pretty much how it looked when I started to drive it in 1997 at 16 (bought it when I was 15) and how it looks today.

I actually never took a single picture of when I bought it. The cab and bed were the factory white with blue interior, but the front end was replaced with another 67 clip that was green with 7 or 8 colors under that. My dad sprayed it flat black the summer of 97, the pic below is one of the oldest I have, probably from around 2002.

Here's my brother's first car, a 70 Mach 1, which I inherited when he passed away 8 years ago.

The Mach 1 will be my next project after I finish the 66.
