I have a 67 coupe that was originaly a six cly car but I am currently doing a 6 to 8 swap. When i bought the car I got a 9 in. ford detroit locker I'm not sure what the rear end came out of but it measures 54 1/4in. The only problem I see is that the flat area of the housing that lines up with the leaf springs doesn't quite line up with the leaf springs in the car. Am I going to have to have the leaf spring area of the housing welded to line up with the leaf springs or what. Thanks for your help.

Youre saying the perches arent the same width as the leafs? By how much? rewelding the perches may be the easiest solution.

That narrow a housing sounds good for the swap....and if the diff is a detroit locker, sweet!!

It might be a housing out of a Granada, which I recall is a teeny wider. Just push the springs apart and it should drop down on them. Line up those pins in the springs with the holes in the housing to align it.
