I have read a dozen thread and hundred of posts, most of the ones discussing the control of spark-timing are fairly old and nobody likes a necro so...

What is the general consensus here about allowing the Fitech (30002 in my case) to control the spark instead of a vacuum and mechanical advance system?

My distributor is MSD and the ignition box is a 6AL. I can choose to allow the Fitech to control the spark (with a great deal more effort) or leave it to just do fuel alone.

I know two local friends using it in fuel-only mode, and they run great, but am I losing the full benefit and either power or efficiency if go the easy route and allow fuel-only?

For whatever it's worth, I have the same MSD setup in my '66 and I chose to leave them alone when I installed my Sniper. Runs fine, and I avoided the complicated part of the installation manual.
