Can I swap 8"/9" five lug axles into 1964.5-1970 7.5 " rear ?? I've got a 1967 6cyl. coupe and want to put my Torque Thrust Ds on the car until I can afford a 9 inch rear or do I have to buy axles or machine what I've got ?? Any and all help appreciated. Thnx:shrug:

is it different enough that aerostar or ranger axles will not work?

Do you really need a 9"? an 8" is plenty strong for 300HP, maybe more. I bet you can find a decent 8" for $200, and there are plenty of donors....

Just pick up an 8 inch and drop it in. You could probably find an entire rear end for less than $100. Granadas, Maverick's and a few others have the width you'll need.

On that note... was going to make a new topic but this will fit nicely here...

Would a Comet rear end work? I mean in theory they were almost the same cars, so a v8 from a 65 Comet should bolt right in yeah? The reason I ask is that I found a drum to drum 65 V8 rear for $50 and the O.P. may be able to find one similar as well
