So I went to prepare the floor pans in my 69 project car for dynamat. Went to install the drain cover plates and the oval portions are not exactly the same and prevents the stamped plates from sitting flat on the floor. The floor pans are the long Canadian version installed in 2008. The stamped cover plates are originals. Is this a common problem? Would a new set of drain plates solve the problem or is it better to mod the floor pan to accept the original plates?
Thanks for any insight ...

I think it would be better to mod your 2008 floor pan to your original plate. That's what I'm gonna do. Its really the only thing I can do. The after market pan and the after market drain plate don't match up at all. But the original semi does. I would also put some type of putty or sealant. That's what my original had.
