I'm guessing the issue is the 2.5" exhaust more than the mufflers. I've got deltaflows on my 302 behind Tri-Ys and 2" pipes. I think the tone is PERFECT, and I'm an old fart so most here would probably think it's too quiet! Oh, my delts are 3 chamber. You running 2 chamber?

It's the old Flowmaster myth again... Years of excellent marketing have made the entire world believe that Flowmasters allow the most power, this has been proven false more and more recently. And people have complained about noise levels (and drone) so Flowmaster has developed this Delta Series, But the sound reduction is nothing significant and the drone is still there as always.

The best source for muffler advice is the late model world. Every type of muffler has been tried, tested, approved and rejected there. It is much more common now to look elsewhere (away from Flows). Flowmasters are chambered mufflers while brands like Borla and Dynomax are straight through designs. I have Borlas on my 2000 GT and I love them! The downfall of straight through designs is that they can and will blow out over time.

If you have 2 chambers, you may want to go to 3 chambers. Addition of a crossover pipe will also quite it down and add a little performance in the process. I had dynomax on one of my mustangs and they were a lot quieter than the flowmasters, but the construction is no where near as good (crimped vs welded, packing vs chambered).

I just put Dynomax Super Turbos on my '65 convertible and they are pretty quiet at idle. Nice, little rumble. They are not really loud enough for me, so I will probably go to 3 chamber flowmasters this year.

I agree that the 2 chambers are too loud.. I had them on my '65 coupe...
