What's the worst injury anyone has suffered while working
on their 'Stang? I only ask because I was working on "Blue
Thunder" trying to fix the slop in the shifter.I used a hammer
and a 1/2" extension to try and remove the shifter from the base and missed and caught my left index finger.Man what
a nasty blood blister! I've had a few,but this one is nasty! :)

The worst one until recently was doing the front end on my '66 coupe. While smacking the ball joint pickle fork with a BFH I missed and hit my hand ... twice. That had it hurting pretty bad, until I got to the other side ... hit the same hand in exactly the same spot twice more. I thought my hand was broken (but that didn't stop me from finishing the front end *LOL*).

That was topped recently when we were pounding out a dent in the top of the inner fender of my son's '65 project. I was hitting in an upward motion, missed the inner fender and smacked myself in the mouth with the hammer. Fortunately, no teeth were lost but I was reduced to a one handed helper, turning the reigns over to my son, as I held a paper towel on my mouth the rest of the afternoon in a feeble attempt to stop the blood flow.

I guess I shouldn't play with hammers.

Not necisarilly a "bad" injury by any means... but all i have to say is sheetmetal is sharp. I have a countless amount of cuts on my hands, wrists, arms, almost everything.--- all from putting windows into my new doors... maybe i shouldve worn gloves right?

When I was 18 I was working under the hood and I don't remember what I cut it on, but I sliced in between my 2 fingers. I needed 5 stitches. Mitchell

I've told this one before, but the worst injury that I received was a chunk of rusty metal lodged in my iris. I endured it for about 24 hours, but finally made an appointment with an eye surgeon on the next day ( a Saturday morning no less). She took some kind of powered drill machine that looked similar to a dentist drill and, while I held my head real still against a metal frame, drilled the metal out of my eye. I hope she didn't mind me grabbing her several times during the procedure! This ranks ahead of the 3" long, very deep gash that a powered cutting tool made across the top of my hand while I was holding the work.

Years ago I opened a can of paint stripper & as I cracked the cap open it was pressurised & blew up into my eyes.Temporarily blinded I tripped over some parts I had hanging on the floor while searching for the tap(faucet).I usually have to learn the hard way & I wont forget that one!
Thought I'd never see the Mustang again..........oh & the wife,kids,dog...ect!

Not a Mustang story but a good one:

About 20 years ago, my dad, while attempting a quick fix to the rusted exhaust hangers on his Datsun 210 cut his thumb off 75% of the way.

He was using some rope to hang the exhaust when a slip of an X-Acto knife caught him between thumb and pointer finger. It went completely through the muscle, tendons, nerves, and 1/2 way through the joint.

So rather than get somebody to drive him to the hospital or call an ambulence, he gets in the car and drives it to the hospital. This is especially tough considering the car is a stick shift and he's got the cut hand pinched tightly between his knees.

1 pint of blood loss and hours of surgery. Moral of the story: don't drive a Datsun 210.

Not a Mustang injury but a good one non the less. When I was doing the body lift and changing the springs on my truck I made a few mistakes. First when doing the rear springs I was cutting the U-bolts with my dremel, well I cut to far and split the U-bolt. When it broke it shot out and cracked my nuckle, OUCH! Then, when I was doing the body lift, I started lifting the body and forgot to disconnect the shifter from the tranny. Well it didn't take long for it to slip out of park, roll a little, push the jack over and come down on, you guessed it, the same nuckle as before. Still have the scar and the nuckle is a little different shape than the others.
